27th Kuwait Annual OBGYN Conference:

Advancing Women’s Healthcare Through Innovation and Expertise

Imagine a conference where the future of women’s healthcare is shaped through innovation, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

That vision defined the 27th Kuwait Annual OBGYN Conference, held from February 4–6, 2025, with pre-conference workshops on February 3, at the Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait City.

Hosted by the Maternity Hospital under the Ministry of Health, Kuwait, the conference brought together leading experts to explore the evolving landscape of obstetrics and gynecology. Guided by the theme “From Hope to Reality: Breakthroughs in Fertility & Pregnancy Care,” the event reflected a field undergoing rapid transformation — driven by technology, research, and a renewed focus on patient-centered care.

01

A Vision Shaped by Innovation

In her address, Dr. Iman Al Shamali, Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Maternity Hospital, emphasized the intersection of advanced technology and women’s healthcare.

With developments in artificial intelligence, innovative surgical techniques, and diagnostic tools, the field is entering a new era. The conference was designed as a platform to explore these advancements while encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals.

This vision set the tone for a program that was both forward-looking and grounded in clinical application — positioning the event among impactful international medical conference experiences in the region.

02

A Comprehensive Scientific Program

Across three days, the conference featured 45+ lectures, 35+ speakers, breakout symposia, and research presentations. The agenda covered a wide spectrum of topics, reflecting the complexity and breadth of modern obstetrics and gynecology.

A major focus was placed on fertility and reproductive medicine, with sessions exploring decades of IVF research, fertility preservation, recurrent implantation failure, and the impact of conditions such as endometriosis and obesity on reproductive outcomes.

Equally significant were discussions on cutting-edge technologies, including the role of AI in diagnosis and treatment planning, advancements in robotic surgery, fetal MRI applications, and evolving ultrasound techniques. These sessions highlighted how technology is reshaping both clinical decision-making and patient care.

03

Advancing Maternal and Fetal Care

The conference placed strong emphasis on maternal-fetal medicine, addressing key challenges in pregnancy care. Topics ranged from first-trimester ultrasound in multiple pregnancies to identifying high-risk fetuses and managing preterm birth.

Sessions on fetal surgery, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), and maternal immunization updates demonstrated how early diagnosis and intervention continue to improve outcomes for both mother and child.

04

Bridging Clinical Practice and Ethics

Beyond clinical advancements, the program addressed important regulatory and ethical considerations in women’s healthcare. Discussions included medical litigation, legal frameworks in Kuwait, and lessons from international regulatory models.

These conversations reinforced the importance of aligning medical innovation with ethical practice — ensuring that progress in healthcare is both responsible and sustainable.

05

Hands-On Learning and Practical Training

Pre-conference workshops provided valuable opportunities for hands-on learning.

The MIS Myomectomy Workshop, held at Maternity Hospital, focused on advanced laparoscopic and vNOTES surgical techniques, featuring live demonstrations and expert-led training.

At the Four Seasons Hotel, the Fetal Echo GE Workshop introduced participants to congenital heart disease screening using simulation technology — marking one of the first comprehensive fetal echo simulation experiences in Kuwait.

Together, these sessions strengthened the conference’s role as a continuing medical education conference, offering 16 CME/CPD credits and emphasizing practical skill development.

06

A Truly Collaborative Environment

The conference welcomed a diverse audience, including obstetricians, gynecologists, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, reproductive endocrinologists, residents, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.

International speakers from the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Turkey, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Kuwait contributed to a dynamic exchange of knowledge and perspectives.

Interactive elements such as Kahoot sessions, Q&A discussions, breakout symposia, and oral poster presentations encouraged active participation and deeper engagement throughout the event.

07

Supporting the Healthcare Community

A notable aspect of the conference was its focus on physician wellness, highlighted by sessions addressing burnout and the importance of maintaining passion and purpose in medical practice.

The inclusion of the KBOG Graduation Ceremony further emphasized the conference’s role in supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals in Kuwait.

08

A Thoughtfully Designed Experience

From structured scientific sessions to networking opportunities, the conference maintained a seamless flow across all three days.

The event also embraced a “Go Green” initiative, reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability — an increasingly important consideration in modern medical conferences.

Supported by sponsors across multiple tiers, including pharmaceutical and medical device companies, the conference demonstrated strong industry engagement in advancing women’s healthcare.
